Iraq

I am truly dismayed by the fact that news agencies, democrats, republicans and organizations like those move on fags are constantly bombarding us with BS about how most Americans wants us out of Iraq.

I don't recall being asked and I highly doubt you were. The truth here is that most of us are against the IRaq war, the pretenses under which it was started and everything else. But does that really mean "Most Americans want us out of Iraq"?

I have a feeling based on the history of statistics and polls most Americans means diddly squat in terms of Iraq.

Getting out of Iraq now means some pretty serious shit no matter how you look at it. LEaving would mean the same thing it did back in the early 90s. Anarchy, violence and oppression raining down. It would definitely mean another terrorist state like Iran.

In fact, what would stop Iran from taking over like Syria did to Lebanon.

I don't disagree that we should not have gone there. Not at all. I just about had a heart attack when Bush started posturing aggressively to Iraq shortly after Afghanistan seemed in control. I was confused and horror-struck. But leaving now as the media and Move On seem to think would be the worst betrayal to human life than staying on and helping that country and its citizens achieve a better life.

I submit that if you really feel we are doing that country and it's people a disservice to submit to your congress person a way we can REALLY help those people. Ensure we are not there for oil or profit and use the wealth and generosity of the people of this great country to change how we are felt in Iraq instead of giving all terrorist organizations a war they can say they won.

At least, Season 5 of 24 is on iTunes. This is pretty awesome in itself, however, we need seasons 1-4 up there too.

I always thought that with as much tech as the show is based on that they seemed to be avoiding posting these for download on iTunes.

Too bad I DVR'd the entire season already. I could have watched it while I worked out.

Of course, watching South Park and comedy central stand up while working out is just as effective.

Imagine RockerDown with a raspy voice after spending the entire day of Easter in bed. This is what happens when you go see the greatest show on earth and have a bud like wingnut to drink with.

Now, I am not going to give you a playlist of songs or some other humdrum bullshit that will tell you how the band played. What I will do is give you my reaction and the reaction of the crowd, which is a far better measureing stick.

Motley Crue is a band I've grown up with, but never saw live. Their song Smoking in the Boys Room became an Anthem at my school even though, at the time, smoking was allowed on campus (yes dickweeds, I'm old). There was something riotous and helldriven about that band and even though I was and am a firm Christian and the rumors of their satanic affiliations were abundant, I could not help but listen and love the aggression and power of their sound.

17 years later wingnut and RockerDown head off to the Oakland Arena to be greeted by a technically talented, but technology deficient Motley Crue tribute band. I think we lasted 4 minutes and only because there were hot chicks writhing in cages in very little dress.

To be fair, I got nice and toasted well prior to the band coming on stage. FWIW 24 dolars for a double shot of jack and a 12 ounce bud had my temper flaring pretty early. Sort of a primer for the show. So to be real honest, after a few more shots of jack and a few more bigger beers, my memory is a bit hazy from the evening. BUT I do remember hot ass chicks climbing ladders and writhing around, flashing camel toe for all to see. I do remember that Vince Neil STILL looks skinny. In fact, he is even skinnier than after that mtv makeover show (which I will admit, watching Vince get plastic surgery on tv was an all-time low for rock and roll). I also remember something about sparks flying from one of the girls vagina's.. I think it had something to do with a saw and a piece of metal in close proximity to her nether regions, but I honestly don't recall. Go see them for yourself.

And at some point, Tommy Lee was up in the rafters being Tommy. Let's not forget the booby cam though. Tommy with his handheld and nothing but bare silicone throughout the audience waiting for the camera to zoom on their store-bought endowment.

And one of my favorite recollections is being the person to chant "Crue Crue Crue" until the whole arena erupted into the same chant. From the time Crue came on to the time they left, the entire audience (minus people unable) were standing up, jumping, screaming their drunk, happy heads off, and stomping their feet to the music.

When the crue left they did not do it on a slow song. They did it perrfectly for a band on the comeback. They left us ready for more. More Crue.

I was so amped up when they left that Wingnut and I ran off to a groovy little punk bar in Oakland and shut it down.

Motely Crue, man. Smoking in the Boys Room. Glam Rock gone haywire, but the music is and was creative and effective and catchy and right for the times. Thank GOD old farts like me get to finally see the band live that our parents never let us go see because they were satanic (not even close to being true).

Motley Crue was really a coming of age band for a lot of 13 year old kids like me because the band expressed my need to be a defiant little shit who smoked in the boys room.

RockerDown has two tickets on the ground floor, 1 row back from the main stage... to an almost sold out Oakland Coliseum (seats like 35 thousand). Can't wait. there are still tickets available, but only to the crappy seats. Have fun!

Doing Things on the "Up and Up"

Everyone has thier faults. I have mine, you have yours. But we also have control over a lot of them. One of the biggest faults in America is integrity and honesty. It seems most Americans are somewhat lacking in that department. Even in the wake of 911, it seems people are still trying to avoid paying taxes and contributing to the society they choose to live in.

Even after 911 they seem to have no idea why they should pay taxes. After driving to work on paved roads from a home with electricity and clean, healthy water to a job that is not allowed to fire them without good cause and is forced to pay them a decent wage. In a society where one phone call can bring down the thunder of protectors and fire extinguishers, and others whose entire job is to try and keep you alive... people are trying to avoid paying the taxes that pay for all of these services.

Like society owes it to them.

Not me. Even with all of my faults, that is one where I have to appreciate the society we live in. And this is coming from a person who has never even travelled.

Recently I learned that my company was supposed to be charging sales tax for all of the sales I've made for the last two years. What that means is that for two years of business I now owe all the taxes that I never collected from any of my customers.

Now, I've got two options. Not let the Board of Equalization know about it.. or be up front and pay what I owe and contribute to the society that has given my business the opportunity to florish.

I am going to pay it. Is it a lot of money?

Yes. It is.

Can I afford it?

No... I really can't.

Then why the hell am I doing it?

Because I'd rather have my business fail by doing it the right way than to succeed by cheating. There is no success in cheating. And there is no pride in cheating either.
